The Origin of Australian FootballEdit

Australian Football was originally created in Melbourne in during 1858 to keep the cricketers fit and healthy during the winter months, with the first league starting in 1877, the SANFL (then known as the, South Australian Football League.) soon after the Victorian Football Association was created to accommodate the needs of a league in Victoria. Western Australia followed soon after with the WAFL becoming their state league and another league in Victoria was created to compete with the VFA, known as the Victorian Football League.
